In the episode, “Invasive Procedures” a Trill who was rejected from becoming one of the elite few to be joined to a symbiote decides that he’s entitled to be joined and decides that the Dax slug is the one he wants. Unfortunately, that means Jadzia has to have the Dax symbiote removed, which means certain death for her.
