In episode 113 of the Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo begins his penultimate episode covering the fall 1978 season of Superfriends, the season commonly referred to as “Challenge of the Superfriends”<\/p>\n
First, there is a jailbreak on a distant planet, the local law enforcement cant handle it. So what do they do? They call the Superfriends. Batman shows up, takes care of business and Capricorn Kid swears revenge.<\/p>\n
And Kid wants “Batman: Dead or Alive”.<\/p>\n
Then Toyman invents a device that works better than he expected. Hes going to transport people into storybooks and its also a great way to get rid of the Superfriends.<\/p>\n
Come, gather around, children, lets read “A Fairy Tale of Doom”.<\/p>\n
And now lets go on a space mission. Lets save some kind of floating city and then lets get called away because a couple of Goddesses got into a catfight.<\/p>\n
Are the Superfriends worthy? Lets hear about “The Battle of the Gods”.<\/p>\n
And then its that special day. The one every superhero dreads.<\/p>\n
The day when three members of the Legion of Doom break away from the main group and wreak some havoc on their own. What happens next?They get caught? They escape?<\/p>\n
And the Legion of Doom calls the Superfriends for help?<\/p>\n
What?<\/p>\n
Its “Doomsday”.<\/p>\n
