The night was Dark. . . .\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No, that\u2019s not right.<\/p>\n

Dark was the night. . .\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 still not there.<\/p>\n

Always Dark was the Knight. . .\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 way to pretentious.<\/p>\n

OK, Batman\u2019s dark, we get it, but is this story that dark?\u00a0 Well, it starts with nary a word (\u201cnary\u201d?, Eh, go with it.)\u00a0 It\u2019s true, the first part only has two spoken words.<\/p>\n

The second part though, that one gets a bit wordy and the third is a patented Byrne data dump.\u00a0 The question is: Is it a good story?<\/p>\n

Well, in a special episode of 3rd<\/sup> Degree Byrne (We\u2019ll call it a \u201cSideByrne\u201d) Brian Hughes and son Christopher look at and break down John Byrne\u2019s \u201cThe Many Deaths of the Batman\u201d\u00a0 a three-issue tale of murder and intrigue, art by Jim Aparo.<\/p>\n

This is a fun one with a Christopher providing a much younger perspective on the Dark Knight\u2019s tale. This, of course is a bit different in that we are covering a story where the only art provided by Byrne was for the covers.\u00a0 We do discuss Aparo\u2019s art and how it had changed up to his late 80\u2019s work, but really the focus is on the story by Byrne.\u00a0 There are some good questions posed here as we discuss why Byrne did not do more Batman with his time at DC as well as what the aftermath of this story would be and what it should be.<\/p>\n

So pull up a cold bowl of Vichyssoise (points if you get it) and join Brian and Christopher Hughes as they Discuss John Byrne\u2019s \u201cThe Many Deaths of the Batman\u201d!<\/p>\n
