In episode 80 of The Man of Screen Podcast, Mike Zummo will begin his coverage of Season 2 of The New Adventures of Superman and The Adventures of Superboy, both by Filmation.
First Mike will go into an introduction of the second season and the format change made by the producers, which included folding the Superman and Superboy stories into the Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure. So in addition to the Superman and Superboy shows, there also will be Aquaman and various other DC Universe-related superhero shorts, including the Justice League of America, but more on that in a future episode.
First, Superman will come face-to-face with his greatest nemeses in “A.P.E. Strikes Again”, Superboy will meet “The Beast with Two Faces” and then Superman will discover the mystery surrounding “The Lethal Lightning Bug”.
Then in our second segment, Superman will meet “The Prankster” and they will fight over who has the better sense of humor. Superboy and Lana Lang will meet “The Gorilla Gang” and Superman will face “The Saboteurs”.
Next time: The next four Superman segments, “The Wisp of Wickedness”, “Superman Meets His Match”, “Night of the Octopod” and “Brainiacs Bubbles”.
