In episode 132 of the man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo continues his run through the 1981 Superfriends shorts. This basically means the second third of the season.
First and foremost, Superman meets his match as we get a riff on what we saw in Superman II as Sy-Cree, who was jailed by Jor-El comes to Earth seeking revenge on Superman in “The Evil From Krypton”.
And then were going to the junkyard because a creature is going to be born out of old car parts in what is being described as an “environmental emergency.” So were going to need both the combined forces of the Dynamic Duo and the Wonder Twins as they battled “The Creature from the Dump”.
And now were going to fly the beastly skies as an airliner is turned into a dragon and creates a whole bunch of other monsters and space dragons as we fight some “Aircraft Terror”.
Then were going to have a hot time in the old town as a whale stuck in the river and a dam fire leads to an invasion. How hard will it be for the Superfriends to battled “The Lava Men”?
Then Superman and Black Vulcan are going to take a trip. A trip into outer space, to a square world where everthing is backward. A world where our favorite reverse Superman will turn Superman into a Super-Weakling. Come, tell us your tale of “Bazarowurld”.
And then were going to get a visit from the past, 13th century Japan that is. A warlord found new grounds to pillage. Not new grounds, just in a new time. What does this have to do with “The Warlords Amulet”?
