“In the enormity of the west, there are still vast and virtually unexplored regions! Bleak and desolate! Where no human ever goes! And no life is ever seen! It is as though the land had been pelted by god! It is in these lonely areas of the impenetrable forest and dark shadows that the Gila Monster still lives! How large the dreaded Gila Monster grow … no man can say!”
On this special episode of Bots, Bugs, and Babes, my brother, Luke Jaconetti (Earth Destruction Directive) joins me for a look back at 1959’s The Giant Gila Monster. We explore the film that was hyped as “The Biggest Terror Ever Unleashed on The Screen”, as we hit all the different aspects of how it was made to the special effects. We also talk about how this movie stands apart from others that are often lumped together and how it mixed two different genres together. So grab your nitro glycerin, jump in your hot rod, and follow us to a more than welcome distraction during these crazy and often scary times we find ourselves in.
We here at Bots, Bugs, and Babes, hope that this will help you find a little distraction during this time of quarantine / social distancing amid the corona virus pandemic. Be smart, be safe, and enjoy this B-movie.
