In the tenth episode of Origin Story, I head on over to Marvel’s Distinguished Competition to check out an early FCTC-era Superman story with Adventures of Superman #428. I review the comic, gush about Jerry Ordway’s art (because you have to), ship Clark Kent and Cat Grant, and reveal that I didn’t realize when I was nine years old that the hostage on the cover of the comic was actually a guy (sorry Jerry–both of you). Also, I talk about how I remember buying this comic, which includes a story that will embarrass my sister … which is always a bonus.

A dear friend once said to me: “It’s a lot of fun when everyone’s a dork of some sort or another.” As I look back on my life as a dork, I realize that not only have I geeked out, but not in the right way. My taste, you see, isn’t great. But instead of hiding from that, I’ve decided to embrace it. Part commentary, part memoir, this is an exploration of my weird love for the obscure and for those things that sorta suck.
