3rd Degree Byrne Episode 51: Fantastic Four Annual 17
Join Brian and Tim, two life long comic freaks, as they take a look at one of the quintessential comic book writer/artists of the last 40 years, John Bryne. Each […]
ΓÇ£Some people can read War and Peace and come away thinking it’s a simple adventure story. Others can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.ΓÇ¥
Yeah, no, this isnΓÇÖt going to be that deep.
ΓÇ£It’s kryptonite, Superman. A little piece of the rock you were born on. I’ve spared no expense to make you feel right at home.ΓÇ¥
If you want to make me feel at home, make me a pie, preferably rhubarb.
ΓÇ£To us, they’re just meteorites. Fair enough. But the level of specific radioactivity is so high, to anyone from the planet Krypton, this substance is lethal!ΓÇ¥
If this stuff were real, you know there would be people wearing all the different colors of the stuff as their bling, just to show off how much money they have.
Though in the Byrne era, we only had to worry about the green kind. Green is such a lovely color. Always makes me think of Mountain Dew, or Christmas and sometimes anti-freeze. But that is not the point.
The point is that 3rd Degree Byrne is covering Superman #22 in this latest world hopping episode. Tim Elliott, Brian Hughes and Kirk Greenfield put this issue on the Byrner (see what I did there?) and really make a meal of it.
There are some real good questions asked, like . . .
Are Kryptonian clothes still indestructible after gold Kryptonite exposure?
How did Zod keep his hat from falling off his head when crashing through that ship? Super Ears?
How did Superman get home?
And so many more.
So sit back, pull up a chocolate shake (points to anyone that knows the reference) and enjoy as 3rd Degree Byrne covers Superman #22
