In episode 65 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo is on his own as he covers two episodes of Season 6 of The Adventures of Superman.

First were going to meet, Mr. Pebble. He showed up with a proposition. To donate a piece of land to a camp for children. Even better, its set for life as its on top of a silver mine, and everyones happy.

No one may be happier than two crooks, one of which who looks eerily like Mr. Pebble. They want the mine, but where is it.

You can be sure, questions will be asked, mustaches will be pulled and a man will be yanked up a hill by the plate in his head as we search for “The Superman Silver Mine”.

And then, Professor Pepperwinkle comes to town with his new invention, but Ill bet he doesnt remember having invented it. Jimmy and Lois want a raise as its long overdue so they have to get the story without Supermans help to get it.

What did Pepperwinkle invent? Memory vapor. Jimmy tries to spray crooks and misses.

What secret will be revealed and why is Inspector Henderson putting himself to sleep while counting over 700.

Do you remember or have you suffered “The Big Forget”?

Next time: Bob Fisher will return to the show for a look at the next adventure with Prof. Pepperwinkle as he creates a companion in “The Gentle Monster” and then you are all invited to stare at “Supermans Wife”.

In episode 10 of The Man of Screen Extra, Mike brings back his bonus show after a five-month hiatus with an episode that listeners heard about months ago and can finally listen to with their own two ears.

Even better, as promised, Mike has delivered this episode before CBS All-Access has delivered “Star Trek: Discovery”.

In a shorter episode than you may be used to, Mike covers the 1949 movie serial, “Batman and Robin”, produced by Sam Katzman, who also produced the two Kirk Alyn movie serials. Find out what Mike thinks of this 15-chapter adventure.

Follow along the adventure as Batman battles the Wizard, thugs, and an oversized costume? And why doesnt the batsuit fit? And does Bruce

Wayne know Batman is driving his car?

Youll just have to tune in to find out.

Then, when thats done, Mike will talk about what he hopes is on tap for the rest of the year with “Man of Screen Extra”.

Next time: Superman is returning to Supergirl. There are plans for there to be discussion.

In episode 64 of The Man of Screen Podcast, Bob Fisher is back in the house for two more episodes of Season 6 of The Adventures of Superman.

First, Paul Barton is a man in a box. Hes been in there for seven years and hes going to stay in there until his brother can declare him legally dead.

What faulty premise is this episode based on? What scientist made an encore appearance and what was Superman unable to do that made Ben Weldens character laugh like a hyena?

What will Superman do the get inside “The Mysterious Cube”?

Then the show will remind us that we are in post-World War II America? How many times has the nuclear test been postponed? And what sign did Lois Lane and Jimmy happily ignore? And why is this professor spitting in Jimmys ear?

And who is the mysterious X-29?

Grab your spy gear as we meet “The Atomic Captive”.

Next time: Mike will be on his own as he tries to find his way to “The Superman Silver Mine” and then he may or not get sprayed in “The Big Forget”.

In episode 63 of the Man of Screen podcast, the show makes its official debut on the Two True Freaks Internet Radio Network with two Season 6 episodes of “The Adventures of Superman”. And as an added bonus, after taking most of Season 5 off, Bob Fisher is back.

First, Jimmy will develop an interest in magic, and Perry is an expert in several magic tricks, including the one Jimmy is interested in. But how does that put Jimmy in position to fall into a trap and become bait for Superman?

What is this professors nefarious invention that will rain Kryptonite radiation down on the Man of Steel? And Mike said Superman was acting like a WHAT?

Come and learn, “The Magic Secret.”

And then its off to the Republic, which is apparently in South America and Superman is faced with a dilemma, how to be in two places at once. But at least he has a scientist friend who can help.

Find out how Superman splits himself into two beings and see what the drastic effect it will have, and what new thought did Lois have that were pretty sure shes had before?

Watch as Superman will show you how to “Divide and Conquer”.

Theres also a letter from Dave McElvenney. Heres a link to the story he spoke of for those of you interested.

In episode 62 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo will end one season and begin the final one as he covers two more episodes of “The Adventures of Superman.

First, lets end Season 5 with some gravity issues as Jimmy Olsen stumbles and bumbles his way into creating an anti-gravity formula. Its an accident to be sure, but he must do his great work for the government. But I think he needs to focus on his butterfly catching.

What does this have to do with a ruined pair of $60 pants? Will he let the government down? Will he make the chief feel stupid.

Come to the end of season 5 as we figure out “Whatever Goes Up”.

Then, the sixth and final season will open with a collision of past and present. Lets preserve Knighthood and Dragons and find out how much trouble a bunch of retired old men can cause with a jewel and a few suits of armor?

And why are these suits of armor wearing coats? Is it not warm enough for them?

What will happen when we meet, “The Last Knight”?

Next time: Bob Fisher will return to the show with a look at two favorite episodes of the series, “The Magic Secret” and “Divide and Conquer”.

In episode 61 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo has got a bunch of “Adventures of Superman” weirdness concerning elephants and aliens.

First the children are expecting Superman to deliver an elephant to a charity event. And they will not be happy if he doesnt. And theyll blame him if the elephant is kidnapped.

Meet Johnny Wilson. He lives on a farm after his mother moved them out of the city. He found an elephant in his barn and thinks its a birthday present. At least until hes shown … an elephant registration number?

Grab a packaderm by the tail for “The Stolen Elephant”.

And then were getting a strange visitor from another planet. Yep. Another one. Hes from Mars. And hes measly. For that, he was banished. But hes friendly. Too friendly. And very naïve. That doesnt sound like a good combination.

Would you roll out the red carpet for our visitor, “Mr. Zero”?

Next time: Mike will finish up Season 5 as Jimmy determines “Whatever Goes Up” and then start Season 6 by meeting “The Last Knight”.

In episode 60 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo will enter the beginning of a difficult stretch of “The Adventures of Superman.”

If you can consider watching a television show difficult.

First, we get a visit from something rare on this show. A recurring character. There are plenty of recurring actors, but few recurring characters, but the return of Prof. Pepperwinkle is a delight, even if the episode itself is out there.

But the good professor has brought a new invention. Hes going to transmit you by phone. Think of the possibilities. Imagine getting a pizza sent to you over the phone. You better catch it or youll have a big mess on your floor.

But what happens when the criminal element gets ahold of it. Will they be caught? Or will they use “The Phony Alibi”?

And then, were giving to charity. Well, were not, but little Bobby Jackson is. Hes going to give some of his old stuff to flood victims and hes going to give away some of his great-grandfathers old stuff, too. Didnt kids in the 50s have PARENTS?

But find out what happens when Great-Gramps coat has something very valuable in it. Or not at all.

Find out the story behind “The Prince Albert Coat”.

Next time: The Daily Planet crew will determine the whereabouts of “The Stolen Elephant” and then the man from Mars, “Mr. Zero” will want to you to take him to your leader.

In episode 59 of The Man of Screen podcast, its time for a look at two good more episodes of Season 5 of “The Adventures of Superman”

First, there is a fire, and there are the Firemans Friends, but are they everybodys friends, or are these two guys who run a food truck just a front for something more sinister than coffee and doughnuts?

Why is Perry White accused of fraud? What do the police, insurance investigators and DA believe? Are you sick of those wisecracks?

All in all, I hope you have “Money to Burn”.

And then I would like you to meet Tony. He just bought his barber shop, but this haircutter has a unique talent. Not only can he chat you up and cut your locks, he also has a persuasive talent and if he believes something about you, it comes true. Does he use that gift for good or evil?

What does a notorious gangster have to do all this?

Will he reform? Or will our heroes suffer a “Close Shave”?

Next time: Professor Pepperwinkles latest invention will provide us with “The Phony Alibi” and a boy named Bobby will give away “The Prince Albert Coat”.

In episode 58 of The Man of Screen podcast, its more of Mike Zummos coverage of Season 5 of “The Adventures of Superman.

First up is a strange little tale about a man who was King and who slept on the job. A man who dreamed when he was asleep and ruled his kingdom by what the dreams told him. Of course that opens him up to manipulation by a nasty criminal who wants to … you guessed it … take over the country for himself.

Add in a naïve high school girl, a fortune teller and some reverse-gear hijinks and you have yourselves one subpar half-hour of television.

All that and “The Man Who Made Dreams Come True”.

Then, were going to lose track of Lois Lane, and then were going to look for some money and then were going to catch up with our favorite guest star. Who is it? Youll just have to listen to find out.

Youll also want to find out whether Clark Kent is going crazy. Why is Superman goofy? And what is with all the furniture moving?

Find out as we look for the “Disappearing Lois”.

Next time: Perry White will find himself on the hot seat in “Money to Burn” and then Jimmy Olsen is going to sign up for a “Close Shave”.

In episode 57 of The Man of Screen podcast, Bob Fisher is back for his only appearance in Season 5 of “The Adventures of Superman”

The boys are concerned with missing truckers and Jimmy Olsens speeding ticket. Wouldnt it be funny if the two of these things were related? Well, it wouldn't be The Adventures of Superman if they werent.

Traffic court is ordinarily a scam, but a fake judge and some phony cops make it even more of one as they bring mobile home to the next level with their mobile town.

Is Akport a real place or is it “The Town That Wasnt”?

Then lets go on a trip with some creepy cultists. What happens when Lois Lane wears a strange pendant? What effect does it have on two Middle Eastern men? And why are Lois and Jimmy so excited about their upcoming trip?

What does one of the criminals do that Mike things should have crippled him and what will happen to Lois and Jimmy when they enter “The Tomb of Zaharan”?

Next time: We will meet “The Man Who Made Dreams Come True” and then try to solve the case of “Disappearing Lois”

In episode 56 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike is back to business with the first two episodes of Season 5 of “The Adventures of Superman”.

First, its time to go overseas as Superman appears to get suckered into some smuggling and Jimmy and Clark think theyre getting suckered by Inspector Henderson. Why is Superman no longer welcome in the City of Love? Why is Superman dangling Jimmy over some jewel thieves like a worm on a hook.

And why has Mike made so many fishing puns in this episode?

Find out as we face the “Peril in Paris”.

Then, you are welcome to meet Frank. Frank Smullins. He captured a crook by accident, but that suckers Perry, who is connecting a slow news week to the end of newspapers all over the world. Why does Frank make Perry think hes a crime-busting reporter or is he just a scared middle-aged man working a dead-end job and facing a midlife crisis?

Whos Big Jack? What is the perfect job and does it take the perfect Celia to catch the perfect Smullins fish. AGAIN, with the fishing cracks.

So, is Smullins the real deal or is he a “Tin Hero”?

Next time: Bob Fisher will be back on the show as we meet some expert movers in “The Town That Wasnt” and then we follow Lois and Jimmy to “The Tomb of Zaharan”.

In episode 55 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike is taking the show off the road for a week.

Were leaving the comfy confines of Metropolis and were going to visit New York City, to the home of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. Yes, thats right, Mike is covering an episode of the popular 1950s sitcom, “I Love Lucy”.

Its Little Rickys birthday and his party is coming up, and opposite another classmates party and his mom, Lucy, has made the ultimate promise, Superman is coming to the party.

But what happens when Superman cant attend? What will Lucy do to make her sons birthday party a success? What lengths will she go to? And what does that have to do with Aunt Harriet and a high-ledge act on a ledge.

Find out what happens when Superman does show up and why exactly is Ricky Ricardo more of a Superman than George Reeves?

So, come on the detour as we check out “Lucy and Superman”.

Next time: Back to regular business as we meet Inspector Hendersons double in “Peril in Paris” and then we meet the “Tin Hero”

In episode 54 of The Man of Screen podcast, season of 4 of “The Adventures of Superman” will come to a close.

First, its a case thats baffling the police. Someone is committing burglaries all over Metropolis and no one can get a look at the guy. Is it because hes invisible? Clark Kent seems to think so, but Bill Henderson isnt buying it. This episode has it all, invisibility, some nice Superman action, and a homing pigeon.

Whats an “Adventures of Superman” episode without a homing pigeon?

Plus, Lois and Jimmy will get in the action as they try to solve the mystery of “The Phantom Ring”.

And then the season will end with perhaps the strangest group of pirates you ever saw. Theyve been stranded on an island for hundreds of years and clearly dont know how to be pirates. Fortunately, its all written down for them.

But theres also the case of the Navy. Theyre planning to shell an island during weapons tests and our heroes are to get before and after photos. They wont even have to give their lives for the Sunday Supplement.

So, bring your sea sickness pills as we suffer together during “The Jolly Roger".

Next time: It will be time for something a little different as George Reeves will take on sitcom work as a guest star in the “I Love Lucy” episode, “Lucy and Superman”.

In episode 53 of The Man of Screen podcast, Bob Fisher returns to the show as the podcast begins its second year with two solid episodes of “The Adventures of Superman”.

First, Metropolis Police Inspector Bill Henderson is under fire. What does the criminal of this story have on the good inspector? What is he going to do with this anti-Superman ray gun? And why is it all Clark Kents fault?

Find out what Lois and Jimmy do with their stethoscopes and prepare for a bad case of “Cerebellum”, but to be sure, Jimmy Olsen will have to check your lowbar pendulum.

Listen along to find out why exactly Bill is under the threat of “Blackmail”.

Then, its time for a sequel as the show shows signs of CONTINUITY in this sequel to “Panic in the Sky”. Meet a professor from Africa, who “once upon a time, had a telescope” and he saw The Superman.

He has a plantation. He has hobbies. He has a telescope, but money? No money.

So he writes Big Tom Rufus, who puts a former Batman under Kryptonites spell in “The Deadly Rock”.

In episode 52 of The Man of Screen podcast, were going to take a look at two more Season 4 episodes of The Adventures of Superman that Mike remembers recording off TV when he was a child.

First Lois Lane will be proposed to by the man of her dreams. You guessed it, Superman. Find out what happens when the Man of Steel proposes to our favorite girl reporter when we feature an episode that runs like a live-action “Supermans Girl Friend Lois Lane”.

Superman foregoes catching crooks as love his on his mind, but is this really happening? Or is Lois having a very vivid dream? Has substituting for the Lonely Hearts editor gotten to Lois?.

So, we kindly request the honour of your presence at “The Wedding of Superman”.

Then its time for some treasure hunting. An eccentric sailor will leave about a million dollars worth of diamonds to a cousin that wins a treasure hunt. Who is generous, who is selfish and who is a dangerous criminal?

nd what secret is hermit Jonathan Skagg hiding? And why is it that no one in the family has heard of him?

Come and join us on “Dagger Island”.

Next time: Bob Fisher will be back in the house as Inspector Henderson finds himself on the receiving end of some “Blackmail” and then a goofy scientist and plantation owner needs some money and brings “The Deadly Rock” to Metropolis.

First, dont adjust your eyes as Jimmy Olsen has a double. What will Jimmy do when Kid Collins comes to town? And what does this have to do with a local investment banker?

Why is Jimmy whistling at Lois and has someone finally discovered the greatest secret of them all?

Mike and Bob will go over all the confusion, the doppelgangers and the games of switcheroo in “Jimmy the Kid”.

Then its time to check in with the rich and snarky as a Mad Cap heiress flashes some dough in an attempt to turn Superman into a court jester. Come see the show, the diamond crushing, the jumping, the tearing and why does that diplomat such have an unwieldly long name?

But what does Superman transport? What does he discover?

Who is “The Girl Who Hired Superman”?

Then its to business as we head to a cottage by the sea. As it turns out, its Perry Whites cottage and hes showing off his new hobby. SCIENCE!!! And deciphering ancient documents?

What did Perry learn to make out of regular seawater? And why did it require he take 2 months off the Daily Planet? And why cant the government take care of this? And what exactly does “top secret” mean to Jimmy?

Perhaps it will just create a “Peril by Sea”.

Then the world is going to literally get turned upside down as we meet Professor Pepperwinkle and the first invention he will show off to the Daily Planet staff. What can he use this machine for? Shouldnt he have thought of that before spending three years on this invention?

But what does this have to do with the

In episode 49 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo is once again joined by Bob Fisher for two very good episodes of The Adventures of Superman.

First its time for a contest, a jellybean counting contest. Dont you love jellybeans? Clark enjoys counting them and making dreams come true for little old ladies. Does her dream come true? Well, the show never really tells us.

Is the contest crooked? You bet that raffle ticket you bought it is, and why does this random kid with big ears believe his grandmothers tenant is Superman?

You can just shoot through the closet door as we reveal “The Unlucky Number.”

Then, lets get POLITICAL!. And well try to solve the mystery of the whereabouts of Supermans white suit. Well. One out of two isnt bad.

Watch as a pair of criminals try to rig the Metropolis mayoral election using an impossibly cold chamber and some voter fraud tactics, which bear an alarming similarity to reality.

But why has Superman been turned into an albino and what is he going to do about it?

Dont know? Come along for “The Big Freeze”.

Superman has already left so he gives it to Jimmy ….. who puts it on. Does he enjoy his time as royalty and what will he do with the lovely Baroness Teena DAmour.

Come as Jimmy is coronated “King for a Day”.

In episode 47 of The Man of Screen podcast, Bob Fisher joins Mike to cover two more episodes of The Adventures of Superman.

First, its a story of a man and his mule. Its also a love story. A story of a man and her pie. What does Leftover Louie Lyman do to get his hands on a lemon meringue pie? How does Sylvester J. Superman get his mule to Alaska and why does Steve look as though he is going insane?

And is this bet really important for all these machinations?

Come with us and well take a “Flight to the North”.

Then its time to grow a collection, a collection of Superman souvenirs, that is. Mr. Willy is a less than honest shopowner selling all the best Superman souvenirs. But are they real? And why is a man with a scar on his face assaulting people for a souvenir knife.

And what does this have to do with radium? Confused yet?

Come listen as Bob and Mike try to backtrack this plot no less than three times, as they collect “The Seven Souvenirs”

In episode 46 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike is marching toward the end of the Adventures of Supermans third season.

First, we wait for a package from Prof. Jody as he claims to have found a magic necklace that will protect the user from death? Is such a thing possible and who will be taken in by the professors claims?

What happens when Clark is shot while wearing the necklace and where exactly would Perry White find Superman if he really did want him?

You will have to join us in Tibet as we discover the mystery of “The Magic Necklace.”

Then, we are heading out to the American frontier and apparently the small town that time forgot as Dry Gulch never seemed to make it out of the 1950s. A gunslinger will be met, Jimmy will be jailed and Clark Kent will …. Not care? But you can bet your cape that Superman will care when our unfriendly gunslinger makes “goo goo eyes” at Lois.

But as for the gunslinger, is he for real or is he no more than “The Bully of Dry Gulch”?

Next time: Bob Fisher will be back as Sylverster J. Superman comes to town for some fish-out-of water adventure, lemon meringue pie and snow in “Flight To the North” and then we will find out what makes a scar-faced man so interested in “The Seven Souvenirs”.

First, Jimmy is going to strike it rich because Superman saved a cat. And thats just the beginning, an old widow will reward him $1 million for the act. What does millionaire status do to our favorite reporter? Does it change him? Does he stay the same? Is he still as gullible as ever?

And why exactly does he need a canoe in a high-rise apartment? And find out what is going to fuel Jimmys smoke signals as we count “Olsens Millions.”

Then, Clark Kent is going to be the next Daily Planet staff member to change, but this isnt going to be a change for the better as those closest to our mild-mannered reporter think he has turned to a life of crime.

Is it a frame-up? Did Clark really turn to the dark side? And what exactly does he have in common with Jimmy Valentine?

In episode 44 of The Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo will again be joined by Bob Fisher as he continues his coverage of the color Season 3 of The Adventures of Superman.

Do you believe in ghosts? Perry White didnt. At least until he was haunted by one. The illustrious editors favorite catchphrase will come back to bite him when he finds himself face to face with the ghost of Julius Caesar.

Is Perry going crazy? Is he having a nervous breakdown? And what exactly does this have to do with an upcoming trial the chief is scheduled to testify in.

Come as they go over one of their favorite episodes and introduce you to “Great Caesars Ghost”.

And then, the show will take a turn for the worse as they cover one of their least favorite episodes.

Superman is going to disguise himself as an ancient Native American totem as he helps a chieftain-elect qualify for his new position. How will they survive the bear, the tree and the smoke? How many Native American actors can you spot? Will it ever get better? Should they have even made this?

Come, if you are brave enough to face the “Test of a Warrior”.

Next time: Jimmy will come into some money in “Olsens Millions” and then we will meet “Clark Kent, Outlaw”.

On this fifth episode of Man of Screen Extra, Mike Zummo takes a detour from his DCEU miniseries, but not really that much of a detour.

Considering the content, though, this just makes it a four-part miniseries instead of a three-parter. This time, Mike will be joined by Scott McGregor of Weekly Heroics: A Two True Freaks Guide to Heroes on TV to chat about some of the DC film and TV offerings displayed at San Diego Comic Con in late July. Theyll discuss the trailers for “Justice League”, “Wonder Woman” and “Suicide Squad.”

Listen as Mike and Scott make Internet history showing two people who have different opinions of Batman v. Superman can have a civil conversation and find areas to agree upon.

And then, theyll transition to the small screen as theyll sift through the offerings from “The Flash”, “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” But no “Supergirl”? Very little as the show hadnt started production since moving its sets to Vancouver from Los Angeles.

So, sit back or do whatever it is you do while listening to podcasts and let Mike and Scott tell you what they think of the DC film and TV comic con footage. Find out.

Next time: The patsies. Some kind of “Suicide Squad”.

In episode 23 of the Man of Screen podcast, Mike Zummo and Bob Fisher will dissect what could be the best episode of “The Adventures of Superman.”

Find out what kind of trouble is caused when a second-story man basically stumbles into Clark Kents apartment and stumbles upon the Holy Grail. Meet Candy – no, not the prostitute from “Highlander” – Clark Kents private detective friend, who is called in to help find the thief, but not find the item.

So come along, experience the panic, suspense and the outright confusion as Clark Kent tries to track down “The Stolen Costume”. And when its over, tell us what you think of that ending.

Then for a change of pace, its off to the Peruvian desert for a treasure hunt. Experience Lois exasperation at Clarks attempt to “help” her with her story and make sure you dont sign up for Jimmy Olsens foreign language course – Crummy Spanish 101 – but it could help you when you visit a crummy hotel.

Experience the first Lois and Jimmy adventure of the series as they get caught up in the search for “The Treasure of the Incas.”

Next time: Mike is on his own again as he looks at the next two episodes: “Double Trouble” and “Mystery in Wax.”
