Weekly Heroics: A Two True Freaks Guide to Heroes on TV

When Scott McGregor and Chris Tyler touch their cosmic television remotes together they merge to become Bingestorm: A hero for the "OnDemand" age. As Bingestorm Scott and Chris have the power to consume all of the various Marvel and DC television shows past, present and future and then project them into your ears as moderately entertaining podcasts. In this weekly show, Scott and Chris will recap one episode of a Marvel show like Agents of SHIELD and one from a DC show like Arrow or Flash. And if the Red Kryptonite is flowing that day, they might just break format to bring you something else. It is a golden age for superhero television and Weekly Heroics is not necessarily the index podcast we need, but it's the one we deserve right now.

Its a Giant Sized Weekly Heroics as Bingestorrm teams up with the Immortal Reader Murf Tipton to try to make sense of chapters three and four of the FX channels maybe X-Men property Legion. Coming to us from the Hero Unabridged podcast, Murf adds his considerable powers of observation to our crew in a vain attempt to discern what in this show is real and what is an insane reality created by its main character David. In Chapter Three we get more memory work with Ptomony and Dr. Melanie Bird, with Syd coming along for the ride, in order to determine what Davids amazing powers might be. Exposition abounds and we feel like were finally getting a grasp on our place in this bizarre alternate X-Universe. Then Chapter Four happens and the rug is slowly and systematically removed from under our feet. To even attempt a description here would be folly so just go ahead and watch and listen and well do the group therapy together. It feels like theatrical madness worthy of a Greenwich Village improv group, but is probably more accurately a methodical mind fuck from the magnificent bastards making this show. Keep with us on the ride, who knows if it has a destination or not, but the journey is a hoot. To me, my atypical anti-psychotic meds!

With the help of the enigmatic Dr. Melanie Bird David escapes to Summerland, a tranquil refuge for mutants/science cult testing center and with the help of memory artist Ptomony, they attempt to show him how the moments of insanity in his life were actually just his amazing powers manifesting. Still plenty of mental madness and exciting visuals to keep us unhinged and question the reality were being shown. More Syd and David bonding, powers run amok and sister Amy in peril. Plus! Art Eyefunkle speaks! So stay tuned and take this wild possibly X-Men related ride with us and dont forget kids, milk is good telepathy food!

On The Flash Barry has to contend with another person who got powers from the particle accelerator accident, and this one is coming for Wells. Its an electric episode that gets to see the Star Labs team shine as Barry is left without his powers. Bonus appearance by the Clock King and tangents about upcoming cinematic giant apes. Scott and Chris open up their minds and probably lose them watching this bizarre tale of someone who might be Charles Xaviers lost son, might be the most powerful mutant in the world, or he might just be crazy. It also could just be a modern directors take on what he thinks Stanley Kubrick and Terry Gilliam see when they dream. Who cares? Reality is a relative concept, especially on this show. The Supergirl coverage continues this week as Chris and Scott recap episodes three and four of the first season. Recorded soon after the second season premiere, they talk about their non-spoilery feelings about having Superman back on TV. In these episodes Supergirl takes a break from battling baddies tied to Aunt Astra and we get some deep DC cuts with Reactron and Shock Jock gone bad Livewire (get it, shock jock, electricity powers....never mind). Also we get to see some family dynamics as the two Doctor Danvers show up in flashbacks and in present time as original movie Supergirl Helen Slater join Kara and Alex (and poor Winn) for Friendsgiving Dinner. Some great Cat and Kara scenes and a Superman cameo (sort of) round out the week. Remember kids, if you're about to fight the DC version of Electro, always pack a super soaker.
